Plan

We will begin our tour at your hotel reception at the agreed meeting time.

Using Tokyo's efficient public transportation system, we'll head to the Asakusa district. Famous for Sensoji Temple and its Kaminarimon Gate with its large red lantern, we'll venture down Nakamise Street and explore the temple and surrounding shopping streets, where we can experience authentic local Japanese neighborhood culture, with businesses dating back to the Edo period, over 250 years ago.

After exploring the Asakusa district, we will use one of Asia's most historic subways to head to the Ueno district, where we will explore its large park full of history, famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees, temples, museums, and zoo.

We'll cross the beautiful Shinobazuike pond promenade to head to the popular Ameyoko Market. At this market, we'll see not only local shops but also shops run by immigrants from other Asian countries. For this reason, it's a great place to sample a wide variety of dishes, not only Japanese but Asian in general.

We end our tour at the end of the Ameyoko market in case you wish to continue exploring on your own, or at Ueno station where we will direct you to the most direct train line to your hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend a minimum of 10 days to see Tokyo, Kyoto, and take a day trip. If you have 14 days, you can create a more comprehensive itinerary by adding other cities of interest. And if you have 20 days, you can see most of the main attractions.

If you arrive at Narita, the fastest way to get to Tokyo is by taking the Narita Express or the Skyliner on the Keisei Line. If you arrive at Haneda, you can travel by monorail.

If you're flying into KIX (Kansai Airport) and your final destination is Kyoto, we recommend the Haruka Express (included in the JR Pass). If your final destination is Osaka, we recommend either the Haruka Express (arriving at Umeda Station) or the Nankai Rapid Express (arriving at Namba Station).

The best seasons are spring and autumn. The mild weather, cherry blossoms, and the changing colors of the leaves in autumn make these the most appealing.

Japan uses flat-prong plugs, similar to those in the United States. The voltage in Japan is 100 V, with two different frequencies depending on whether you are in the east (50 Hz) or west (60 Hz) of the country.
